Backpacks and Your Back

School has begun Incline Village! Once again, we see the blinking lights in school zones and cross walks. Parents and students have made the trip to the stores to stock up on the necessary school supplies. This is also the return of backpacks heavily laden with books and supplies.

It is well known to Physical Therapists that back packs can cause undue strain on a back and neck if improperly worn. Often, I have treated school aged children and adults for back and neck pain only to find the main culprit to the problem is due to their backpack.
